Questions
The things people ask before they pick up the phone.
Are you a lender?
No. Tender Grow is a credit broker. We do not lend our own money — we introduce your application to a panel of South African lenders and finance providers, and we help you choose between whatever offers come back.
What does it cost me to use you?
Finding out where you stand costs nothing. On the deal itself, we are usually paid a commission by the lender when funding is drawn. On some transactions we charge you a fee instead, or as well. Where a fee is payable by you, we give you the amount and the basis for it in writing before you commit to anything.
How is tender finance different from a business loan?
A business loan is assessed on your trading history. Tender and purchase-order finance is assessed mainly on the contract you have been awarded and on the creditworthiness of the client who will pay you. That is why it can work for businesses that are too new or too small for an ordinary loan.
Can I get funding if I have only been trading a few months?
For an ordinary business loan, usually not — most lenders want six to twelve months. If you hold a signed contract or purchase order, the picture changes, because that route weighs the contract more heavily than your history.
Do I need to be registered?
For nearly every funding route, yes. If you are not registered we can help with that first; it is normally the single highest-value thing an informal business can do.
I am a sole proprietor. Can you help?
Often yes, though your options are narrower — several lenders exclude sole proprietors, trusts and partnerships outright. Knowing which ones before you apply is precisely what a broker is for.
Will applying hurt my credit record?
Each lender that formally assesses you will run a credit check with your consent, and a long string of enquiries in a short period does look bad. That is why we place selectively instead of submitting everywhere at once.
How long does it take?
Working capital against trading history can move within days, sometimes within twenty-four hours on a complete file. Tender and purchase-order finance takes longer because the award and the end client have to be verified. Come to us as early as you can.
What documents do you need?
Six months of business bank statements as PDFs from the bank, company registration documents, owner or director ID, and details of any existing finance. For tender work, the award letter or purchase order and your supplier quotes as well.
What does business finance actually cost in South Africa?
Short-term business lending here is normally priced as a flat monthly fee on the original amount rather than as interest. Published market rates run from roughly 1.7% a month at the strongest end to around 5% for higher-risk files. Always check for early-settlement discounts and whether initiation fees are added on top.
Do you guarantee approval?
No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. Every lender runs its own credit, affordability and fraud checks. What we can do is make sure your application reaches the funders it has the best chance with, properly presented.
What happens to my information?
We share your file with lenders in order to place it — that is the service. We do not sell your details to anyone, and we do not pass them outside that process.
Still not sure?
A five-minute call usually settles it.
